Zoom Meeting Virtual Safety
In terms of Safeguarding Children, all real life scenarios apply. I hold an active DBS check, I am fully insured for working online and complete regular Child Safeguarding training.
Meetings are password protected and passwords are shared via private groups or messages.
Passwords for recurring meetings will intermittently change at my discretion.
I use a waiting room service; all attendees are known to me first. These classes are not open to new students.
Screen Share disabled for attendees. I as teacher am able to share resources, however no one attending the meeting is able to share their screen.
Zoom is taking safety very seriously and is adding additional firewalls and encryptions frequently.
Advice for Parents
Students are required to leave a door open. This is particularly applicable to older students (I know most younger students tend to have a parent close by).
Check camera position. I need to see the whole dancer, when we are on the floor, it’s useful to be able to see the full body from the side. (This is to ensure correct posture and alignment).
Ensure dance space is free from clutter, students have suitable footwear and water.
Do feel free to check you can access meetings in advance and also, be on hand if connection is lost (it can be frustrating for younger students who are unsure of how to re-enter the meeting).
